As regards the Exertion of the exact land-frontier of the Colony, as extended, I am to state that the boundary is that indicated on a map, prepared by Mr. Lockhart, who superintended the Colonial delimitation concession. That map is enclosed & I am to add, that it may eventually be returned to this Office. I am also to add, that the map was lithographed by the Intelligence Division in July last.

It would be well, in Mr. Chamberlain's opinion, to send the proof of the map, before it is actually published to the Colony for final verification.

The Secretary of State for the Colonies presents his complements to the Director of Military Intelligence, & begs to enclose copies of correspondence, with the Foreign Office, as noted in the margin, for a map showing the recently delimited boundary of Hong Kong.

In personal communication with this Office, Sir Edward Wingfield would suggest that their Lordships should be informed of the preparation of XCR(85)72 draft map with a view to the submission of the matter.
